Pi vs Pie Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

katcogo: After a message from Highlander71 I visited the area today. What once was a pleasant walk on a quiet trail (except for the incinerator) is no more. The trees on the side of the trail where the cache was hidden are slowly being turned into bark mulch. The cache's days would certainly be numbered. Additionally the access to the trails here is pretty well non existant - the only legal way to access the other caches near here is on the trail from the east, along the river. I was able to walk through the expanded entrance to the incinerator facility and only found the trail because I knew it was there. It felt uncomfortable on a Sunday afternoon. On a weekday with the giant equipment that was parked on the trail in full operation it would be extremely dangerous. I may put out another Pi/Pie puzzle at some point but not in this location. I have removed the container.

Geocache Description:

In celebration of Pi Day here are some things to ponder.
Here is a puzzle for you that is easy as Pie/Pi!
This cache is not at the posted coordinates but is within a kilometre.

Pi vs Pie – you may wonder what they have in common?

Both Pi and Pie have a long human history. Pastry Pies date back to the Greeks around the 5th Century BC. Pi dates back to Archimedes around 250 BC. However, evidence exists that both Pi and Pie were known to the ancient Egyptians around 1300 BC.

Pi is both transcendental and irrational.
Pie creates both transcendental and irrational emotions in people

Pi is all about circles, radius and diameters. Pie is all about circles, radius and diameters.

If you want to know how much Pie you have, Pi is the most precise and geekiest way to find out.

Calculating Pi may make you wish to stop and have a piece of Pie instead

Pi theoretically has an infinite number of decimal places. Pie has what seems to be an infinite number of variations.

Pi has been calculated to over 13.3 trillion digits. Pie likely has not been calculated to that number of variations.

The quest for Pi has largely been left to supercomputers. The quest for Pie has largely been left to obsessed foodies.
