Geocache Description:

This... Was quite the day... We decided to take to the hills via this trail while it was still snowing. Once we got to the first small hills, to our pleasant surprise, the snow was chest deep, but to our dismay it was wet snow, so it kept caking up our intakes and stalling us out, stucking us in 4ft deep holes, between the 3 of us, throughout the day, got stuck, and unstuck sleds about 15 times in 4ft holes. Later on that day, the wind picked up as the bottom fell out while we were 15 miles back in the hills. We couldnt see 5 ft in front of us, to top it all off it was beginning to get dark, and at the moment, we had 2 sleds buried up to the bars, one with a shot clutch, nearly immoble, and a slightly injured rider. After making it out of that by the skin of out teeth, we got back to this spot and loaded our sleds, then realizing, we were going nowhere, there was a total of 6 vehicles stuck, 2 on the shoulder, just at the turn off, and 4 on the short little road down to the trailhead, they all had no Idea what to do, we proceeded to unhitch our trailer, borrow an extremely beefy tow strap from a ranger who was trapped in the same lot, and tag team it for an hor to resue the 6 cars safely, while my group did thd hooking and towing and the ranger directed traffic. After the cars were out and on their way, we finally got to get our trailer and get home, but this was an unforgettable day. You never know when it will all break loose. Winter friendly, be safe and drive careful; we may not be there for free rescues. Alaska State Parks Permit #15-KA-1994 Geocache AK
