Geocache Description:

The Thomas Stone National Historic Site was established in 1981 to maintain the house and property of one of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence.

Thomas Stone acquired the property in 1770 and lived there until his death in 1787.  The plantation had been named Haberdeventure or "dwelling place in the winds" by its previous owner.  Thomas Stone built the house which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1971.  Guided tours of the house are available during park hours.  The park is open seasonally Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 to 4:00 and does not charge admission or use fees.  When the park is closed, visitors may park at the gate and enjoy the property during daylight hours.

This cache was approved by the National Park Service.
