At GZ you will find a tunnel that goes deep into the mountain and ends up at Cotter Dam! This tunnel was built over 100 years ago (in 1915), and is still in use today! The original Cotter Dam was built in 1912, At that time, the top water level of the dam was 501 metres above sea level. Now with the new dam wall in front of the old one, the high water level is 50 metres higher!
As I stood near the tunnel exit on a very warm day, I noticed that the air coming out from the tunnel was nice and cool! I would love to go down that tunnel one day. Inside the tunnel, you will see a large pipe! Through this pipe flows much of Canberra's water supply!
Please BYO pen!
