Knottingley Park was first established in 1874. It is now a 33.5 ha tree park near Waimate. Planting in 1874 included California and Australian trees, with a few acres of oak. These are now very large specimens and it is well worth walking among them. The park also includes a garden area, camping ground, playgrounds cricket field and vast areas for pony clubs, harriers and many other activities. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nzlscant/knottingley.htm This series of caches along the northern section of the park will take you among some old and large trees planted some 140 years ago. The cache is a 50 ml container with log book only. Best approached from pond side. Bring your own pen.
