Geocache Description:

Park at the Glenanaar cache and follow directions for the Cannon Sheehan walk (Blue arrows)

The surface is good but would be a struggle for a buggy. Walk to the metal bridge and follow the lovely Ogeen river to the cache. This is the first (or last) cache on the Canon Sheehan Loop. See the nearby "Look up at the roots" cache for more details.

Glenanaar, is translated as "the Valley of the Slaughter." The river flowing through this place is called the Ounanaar, or "river of slaughter." Now called the Ogeen and part of the boundary between counties Cork and Limerick. There is a tradition of a battle having been fought here between the Clan Baskin, of the Fianna, and the Clan Morna.

The wishing well, sometimes called the horseshoe well, is just beside the river. Even the local historians do not have any "sceals" about a cure but there is often a collection of coins in the well. Neither have I heard of any curse on anybody taking coins from it.
