South Wheal Frances is to be found on the Flat Lodes area around Carn Brea. Long since abandoned, the buildings on this site are now a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and as such are protected by law from damage or development. Please note that this cache is not placed on, or in, the fabric of any of the buildings, so there is no need to search the buildings or move anything.
The slopes to the cache site are gentle, so although the terrain rating is set at 2, there should be no problem for most people. The difficulty is initially set at 2, but this may be amended depending on feedback. The cache may take some finding, and then you actually have to reach it, which is also not easy. The ladies may have an advantage with this bit! Be aware that if you drop it, there is very little chance of getting it back. I expect accidents with this one, so please, if you do lose it, don't be afraid to let me know either through the logs or by email, so I can get it replaced asap.
I haven't included a hint with this cache, just the information that the cache is a magnetic, and is designed to blend in well with the surroundings. Once you get to the site you will know what I mean, and you will know where to start searching. Just to repeat what I said at the beginning, this is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, so there is no need to start searching in or on the buildings - the cache is out in the open.
Free parking is available close by, but beware of the height limit at the entrance to the car park.
