'E' is for Englefield Green.
Englefield Green is a large village, the most northerly village in the county of Surrey. It is home to the Royal Holloway College, University of London and the Air Forces Memorial which commemorates by name over 20,000 airmen and women who were lost in the Second World War during operations from bases in the United Kingdom and North and Western Europe, and who have no known graves. See cache GC4QVRN.
The memorial sits on a hill overlooking the celebrated Thames meadow of Runnymede where Magna Carta, enshrining basic freedoms in English law was signed in the year 1215.
Also of interest is that the last fatal duel in England took place on Priest Hill in 1852. See cache GC27MV0
The cache, adjacent to the village green and easy parking, is a 250ml pot which will take most TB's.
From April 2016 the cache is in a new position on the green, so no longer in a quiet corner, it is now much more public, I have changed the difficulty rating to reflect this.
Please be aware that you may be moving around behind the bowlers arm.
