Come and get your CITO Souvenir! Plan to join GONIL as we clean-up along the North Shore Bike Path in Lake Bluff, between Bradley Road (Western end point) and Waukegan Road (Eastern starting point).
When: Saturday, April 25, 2015
Time: 9:00 am - 11:00 am
This will be CITO number fourteen along this path and our goal is to get the path ready for the spring/summer bicyclists, walkers, and joggers who will be using the trail in the next several months!
We will meet in the parking lot across the street from our start point on the path, near the Panera Bread, at 9:00 am to sign the log. We will then cross Waukegan Road as a group to start the clean-up. Coordinates listed are for parking area at the Waukegan Road end of the trail.
GONIL is an official participant in the Adopt-A-Road program in Lake County. The section we are responsible for is actually a bike path between Libertyville and Lake Bluff. The clean-up should take about 90 minutes (less if we have a lot of folks, more if only a few). Lake County has posted a sign along this section of bike path announcing GONIL's contribution to keeping their land (your land, our land) clean.
Bring gloves and your own trash picker-uppers. Garbage bags and safety vests will be provided by the county. If you have any 5-gallon buckets (like the orange ones from the local home improvement stores) bring them along; they are really handy for collecting trash and then putting it into the trash bags.
We also plan on a few FUN "challenges" for our CITO helpers with prizes! (We'll share what the challenges are before we start that morning.) We will have a raffle for all ON-TIME attendees. Be there BEFORE 9:00 and get your raffle ticket!!!
There are some caches and Munzees located along or near the bike path as well as others in the general vicinity so bring your GPSr and your smart phones!
