Stanley Bridge Halt was opened on April 3rd 1905 with the introduction of the new steam railcar service. The platform was on the west side of the line, east of the road bridge and was provided with a typical GWR pagoda style waiting shelter. There was also a small wooden building for milk churns but this was demolished before the line closed. The halt was finally closed when the branch line closed on September 18th 1965.
From here, the line travelled in a North Westerly direction through farmland. It eventually crossed the River Avon on the outskirts of Chippenham, before joining up with the GWR mainline at Chippenham station.
