Geocache Description:


This geocache has been placed in the area of the 400 year old Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. Built around 1600, it has been in constant use until this day. The annual Bhramotsavan is celebrated and festivity statues are taken around in chariots. At the entrance of the temple is a big wooden door and a flag-mast with brass covering. The main deity Shree Ranganadha swamy, it is in relaxing position and is carved from a single black stone. One can see incarnations of Dasavataram and 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu, depicted nearby. There are also remains of a palace and a park area to gather. Keep an eye out for the green parrots that inhabit this area.

The cache is not located in the temple, but is near it. You do not need to enter the temple to find the cache.

The cache container is small, so please bring a pen or pencil to sign the log. Remember to be careful geocaching and you assume all risk and responsibility. Best of luck.
