**edit 7/14/18: Parking explicitly prohibited in front of the yellow gate. The closest public parking I know of is at the west end of the Marine Drive Trail (see additional waypoints). How you get to the property from there is up to you as the shoulder is quite narrow. I am removing the good for kids and dogs attributes for that reason.**
The City of Bellingham received this property in 2008 as a gift from the estate of the Lockwood family. The property boasts the ghost of a loop trail, bee hives, and an improvised 9-hole disc golf course...and now a geocache. I guess that is the strange mix that collects if there is no clear purpose assigned to a property. So far the City seems to have no plans for development other than a vague idea that they might connect a trail through. There is a (very muddy) trail extending north off the NE corner of the property that connects to the gravel road that borders the west edge of the airport.
This house apparently used to stand on this property and I'm not sure when it came down. There is still evidence of the structure and orchard scattered around the site.
