I lived my entire childhood in a house not too far from the location of this cache. My dad was a farmer and my Mom didn't work outside the home until I was a teenager. With a family of six, there wasn't much money to spend on entertainment. So my 3 brothers and I came up with our own entertainment. The Winchester Wasteway was an important part of my childhood. There used to be a variety of fish that inhabited the waters here, and we spent many hours honing our fishing skills. I was quite the tomboy and could scale and gut a fish just as well as my brothers. Our family enjoyed many delicous meals of trout and perch from our efforts. And if we weren't fishing, we were riding our bikes on the roads that travel along the canal, or trying out an inflatable raft or canoe. This area is still being enjoyed today by people that enjoy fishing, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, hunting, bird watching and riding ATVs.
This should be a fairly easy cache to find. There is parking nearby. No busy roads so lots of room for the dogs to run and or swim. Should be safe for children as well. Watch for spiders.
