Welcome to Old Petrie Town!
Apart from the great local museum located here, Old Petrie town has a great collection of original old buildings (and a few replicas) that were from the original North Pine township.
The North Pine area was renamed to Petrie in 1911 in honour of Tom Petrie, a prominent businessman in the area.
So, take a stroll and visit a few of the original old buildings (and a couple of replicas), and then find the cache at the end of your tour! The walk should only take about half an hour, depending on how long you admire the old buildings! :)
This is a WhereIGo cache. There is a physical cache container at the last stage. The container is a SMALL TUBE about 15cm long.
You can download the cartridge from the WhereIGo Page for this cartridge.
You will need to use a smartphone (either Android or iPhone), and download the appropriate WhereIGo player application.
- iPhone Users: download the Whereigo app. (I haven't tested this as I don't use iPhone)
- Android Users: download the WhereYouGo app.
Help for Android Users
If you are using the WhereYouGo app (Android app), there are a few ways to get the WhereIGo cartridge (ie. the file you need to do this cache) onto your phone.
You can either download the file (choose the Pocket PC version) from the WhereIGo Page for this cartridge and then copy it onto the WhereYouGo folder on your phone - you can do this by connecting up your USB cable to your phone.
Alternatively, you can download the file from your phone's browser. To do this, make sure you have installed WhereYouGo app first, and ensure you put your Geocaching.com username/password in the app (go to Settings -> Login Credentials). Now you can use your phone's browser to navigate to the WhereIGo Page for this cartridge. Click the DOWNLOAD button and your phone should ask you whether you want to open the cartridge in the WhereYouGo app - this is what you want to do. If you have to download it manually, click the download button, and choose the Pocket PC Device version, remembering that the file must go in the WhereYouGo folder.
Once you start your tour, I strongly suggest SAVING after each location, just in case something goes wrong!
Have fun!
Congratulations to Orange Crew for your FTF!... and also to EngPhil for completing the cache in such a state! :)
