Geocache Description:

This cache can be done in conjunction with the some of the other caches we have set within Castle Archdale as they are all within walking distance of each other.  The cache camouflaged is nano with space only for a log (no pen so BYO!).

The park was once an estate owned by the Archdale family, who arrived in 1614 during the Plantation of Ulster. The original castle was destroyed during the Irish Rebellion of 1641 and again in 1689, during the Williamite wars. In the 18th century, a mansion was built, but all that now remains is a huge cobbled courtyard surrounded by white outbuildings, housing an information centre and tearooms. The ruins of the old castle itself are situated in the old area of the park.

This cache is set near the public carvan site where aircraft were serviced during World War 2.  When found, please replace it where you find it so that it is not found by muggles!

NB: THIS IS A HIGH MUGGLE AREA IN PEAK SEASON SO PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN SEARCHING.

Please note that this cache is placed on private property with the owners permission. We would like to publicly thank them for allowing us to place this one. We hope you enjoy finding it!

Warning: Data on the phones around Castle Archdale can be patchy and the only phone signal that can be picked up is O2. Please also be aware that the GPS can be a little 'jumpy' because of the tree cover.
