Empowered Community Traditional Cache

The Wannon township is more of a settlement located on the Wannon River above the Wannon Falls. A steep inaccessible gully forms part of the Wannon Falls Scenic Reserve (50 ha). The Wannon  Flora Reserve (6 ha)  situated North of the Highway.

The Country Fire Authority obtained government funding to build this community centre so the Wannon community had a meeting place.

This area is at high risk of both bush and grassfire because of the slopes and being surrounded by grazing land scattered with redgums. The things that make the area so beautiful. Take particular care over the summer period and check the Fire Danger Rating every morning.

Volunteers are what makes a community strong, giving up their time to help others. The local CFA brigade, Bochara, is made up entirely of volunteers from the community. They respond to bush and grass fires and carry out pre-emptive roadside burning.
