Canal Critters is a small series of caches (mostly micro, bring tweezers) along a stretch of the Birmingham and Fazeley canal between Dunton Wharf and Tolsons Mill. The series can be enjoyed by foot, bicycle or boat. It is unfortunately not wheelchair friendly as the towpath can get very muddy. Care should always be taken by deep water, please supervise your geokids and geopets. Please replace as found.
You will need tweezers to retrieve the logs from the cache.
The Birmingham & Fazeley Canal is managed by the canal and river trust, it was completed in 1789 to connect Birmingham to the Coventry and Oxford Canals and generated a great deal of freight traffic to and from Birmingham. It is also used daily by fishermen, narrow boaters, cyclists, walkers and many others enjoying what the canal has to offer. The canal is thriving with wildlife. There's fish, rabbits, foxes, badgers and an abundance of birds. Whilst placing these caches i was lucky enough to spot two kingfishers. This stretch of the canal is also very close to Kingsbury waterpark nature reserve and the RSPB's Middleton Lakes.
