Important Bird Area Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Monigreen: With the sign post gone there is no place to hide a good cache here that is safe for caching. It is with a sad heart that I am archiving this cache permanently. 🙁

Geocache Description:

Quartermaster Harbor is designated an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society. The harbor is a major wintering area for Western Grebes, a species that has declined in the 1980s and 1990s. The harbor's eelgrass beds and algae provide spawning habitat for Pacific Herring. The Herring in turn, are a food fish for wintering Western Grebes. Thirty-six other bird species use the harbor's habitat each year.
