THE GEOCACHE is a family friendly, six inch (15cm) cube lock&lock container, in a camo bag, covered with additional local natural camo, hidden in the woods off the main park road, at an intersection of many pathways, so beware of muggles. There are swaps, a paper log with pencil, and plenty of room for Travel Bugs. Wellies are recommended in wet weather. The geocache is deployed with the kind permission of the Senior Countryside Ranger, Hampshire County Council.
THE VENUE for the MFCP series is Manor Farm Country Park, now called River Hamble Country Park and Farm. Some areas need dogs to be on leads, and a few areas are dog free. There are lots of small car parks on the right hand side of the main park road, as well as two large main car parks on either side of the road, one with a kiosk with shop and toilets, and a childrens play area, and both with nearby picnic tables. Also remember the farm, which is at the far end of the main park road, where there is another big car park, and a café. The paths are a mixture of tarmac, hard gravel, cut grass, and bare soil/mud. The open areas are fairly level, but slippery and squelchy in wet weather. The woods are very up and downy, and can be extremely muddy in wet weather, so wellies are recommended. There is a high chance of muggles and dogs in busy periods, but the park also has very quiet periods. The park is also home to the Cricket Campsite, which is used by the scouts and girlguides etc, and the QE2 centre, which is used by youngsters and adults with learning difficulties and special needs.
