Russ Wade was a refrigeration guy who died on the job. I never met him personally, but heard stories about him and his work. He was well respected in town. Sadly, he entered a toxic environment.
A= the fourth digit of the year he died

Nick Budnick was a net guy and fisheries supply expert, working for LFS in his later years. If you needed something, he would make it happen - he was a legend in Bristol Bay and in Cordova.
B=The second number of the year he was born.

Steve Reutov was part of a large Russian fishing family. I never met Steve, but I heard the radio call when he was missing. Apparently he was fishing in the breakers during Silver season and didn't make it. I think they found his body, and his boat, the F/V Hero was salvaged. He is survived by a large family which continues to fish.
C= The last digit of the year he died

Armin F Koernig, who the hatchery in Chenega is named after, was largely responsible for the hatchery program in Prince William Sound. I haven't spoke with anyone who knew the guy, but I understand he was persistent. Along with the other founders of PWSAC, he promoted the expansion of commercial seining in Prince William Sound. Today, there may be arguments against what those men accomplished, but they are generally silenced in the reality of the economic benefits they brought to the region.
D= third digit of the year he was born

Jack Babic Jr. was a well-known and respected seiner. I never really knew Jack (we said hi a few times). Jack left behind some great kids and at least one brother. His kids are carrying on his fishing tradition . . .
E= The day he was born, and the day he died.

The Memorial Dedication Plaque
F= the fourth number of the year it was dedicated.
