Geocache Description:

This is a series of 7 Beatles song based caches that are hidden on an ancient public footpath and bridleway from Waterloo lane to Cossall bends. Some areas on the Cossall (West) side of the M1 can be wet and very muddy following rain, but in dry and summer weather it is easy walking. suitable for off road cycles. This route part of the ‘Monks Way’ system links with many other caches and routes around the area. All 7 caches are on or against the footpath therefore there is no need to wander onto the local farmers fields which we ask you to respect. Please return the caches carefully.

Each song title reflects the position and or type of cache therefore clues are often not included

The term 'Monk's Way' is a general term frequently used to describe the network of ancient paved tracks which often linked monasteries and settlements to facilitate trade and communication. Legend has it that the stones were laid by monks in the 14th century who brought a slab on the back of a mule each time they used the path. This may be true but equally there are theories that the stones are more recent having been laid for the transport of coal by packhorses during the 18th century. Look out for these large slabs of stone along the route. Also the herd of wild Deer that roam this area.
