Geocache Description:

A simple off set multi set around the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Rewe.

There has been a church here since at least 1280 but much of the current building dates from 1480. If you get the chance to see inside the church you will see a chancel screen and the font that date from the 1400s. The church itself is a Grade 1 listed building.

On Christmas Day in 1810 the church was struck by lightning and local legend suggests the weather vane was found a quarter of a mile away. Because the windows were damaged by the strike most of the stained glass dates from the 19th century.

To find the cache you do not have to enter the church but will need to find a toppled cross in the churchyard dedicated to Frances Mary Torrington Newall and Captain James Torrington Newall. Frances was born in ABCD and died in EFGH, James was born in STUV and died in WXYZ.

To find the cache head to N 50 (A+3)V.H(D-1)C  W 003 UX.TH(W+Y+Z). The route is on a pavement until you get within 10 metres of the cache which is a plastic tube that is not at ground level.
