This 27 hectare reserve consists mainly of natural bushland and some areas of open grassland. Different vegetation communities exist in the reserve including Shale/Sandstone Transition Forest, Riparian Forest, Western Sydney Dry Rainforest and Sydney Ridgetop Woodland, overlooking the Hawkesbury River.
2009 saw the establishment of the Charles Kemp Reserve Bushcare Group which help and work to control weed infestations of Lantana, Small Leaved Privet, Green Cestrum, Balloon Vine and Tree of Heaven.
