150 years ago my Grandfather was a passenger on this ship and now his descendants are still farming the same land (along with some more). Over the coming months I hope to set up a cache in recognition of the families and descendants of each of the 13 ships.
Alfred, with 251 passengers, was the second ship to arrive from Cape Town. As a youngster I heard how the family sheltered under a cliff the first night as they were walking towards their allotment.
This should be quick to find - a drive by.
FTF To respect the immigrants and their descendants I would like to request that for the first 24 hours after being published logging this cached be limited to descendants from the 13 ships that formed the Waikato Immigration Scheme in 1864-65.
