Geocache Description:

Wikipedia: A time capsule is a historic cache of goods or information, usually intended as a method of communication with future people and to help future archaeologists, anthropologists or historians.

Time capsules have always interested me. How cool would it be to uncover something that was placed years ago that contains artifacts from another time? On December 11, 2014, one of the more significant (in my opinion) time capsules was rediscovered in Boston. It was placed in 1795 by Paul Revere and Samuel Adams! If you'd like, you can read more about it here.

I decided to make this cache a time capsule of sorts. It's a mix of personal items, local caching history and a couple of things that (kind of) match up with the contents of the first geocache placed back in 2000. These are not meant to be trade items and are to remain in the cache. Who knows? Maybe this will become a real time capsule someday...

Original Contents

Mock first "stash" items: Microsoft Encarta CD, Boston Destination Guide book and a rain poncho. (I don't believe there was a poncho in the very first cache, but this seemed like something that was left in a lot of the earlier hides.) In case you're wondering, no...I did not place a can of beans in the time capsule.

Local caching items: Logs from other caches (they were soaking wet so I replaced them and brought the originals home to dry out. CO's didn't want them and I forgot I had them!), the cap from an archived cache I was looking for (the rest of the container was gone so I CITO'd the cap), some "pirate" coins, a smiley eraser, a few signature type items and a golf ball. (Can't get over the number of golf balls I see in caches around here!)

Personal items: My rubber duck from the first "Spongeworthy" event, a signature ghost, a NY Mets schedule from a few years back, two Sudoku puzzles (completed!) and last but definitely not least, a picture of my little buddy, Scully, and one of her "personal" items.

As a side note, if anyone has a small piece of local geocaching history that is no longer needed please feel free to drop it off here.

There's a semi-crispy dollar bill for FTF. Enjoy!

Congratulations to Eyeash for being the FTF!
