Three famous Croydonians have been immortalised with life-size portraits that were unveiled back in 2013.
It was to celebrate a new cycle route from Wandle Park to Lloyd Park via the town centre, a cycling charity has funded the portrait bench in Charles Street.
The bench features Croydon resident and comedy legend Ronnie Corbett, the late actress Dame Peggy Ashcroft and little-known 19th century composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.
The bench was unveiled by Croydon Mayor Yvette Hopley.
It was rumoured that Kate Moss was voted as one of the three portraits, but refused permission for the makers of the bench to use her likeness.
Croydon’s three local characters will join 250 portraits placed over 80 new walking and cycling routes across the UK.
