Geocache Description:

Agonis Flexuosa, the ubiquitous Busselton Peppermint Tree. One of these, a distorted, aged and most unattractive example contains a foreign object in the shape of a small screw-top container. Please exercise care in extracting the cache and in replacing it. Should the hiding spot or cache become unusable due to structural failure, please report the event. Have fun.

The Agonis Flexuosa ( directly translated as cluster, full of bends) is the ever-present Peppermint tree that seems to thrive in sub-coastal area from just north of Perth almost to Bremmer Bay. It is a small robust tree which, though classed as a tree may have up to five trunks.

The bark is fibrous and distorted, though carefully selected and bred specimens make an attractive and trouble-free street or park tree.

One unusual feature of the tree is that at each branch node the growth changes direction (flexuosa).

A crushed or cut leaf emits a strong peppermint odour.

Tightly clustered small white flowers in spring and early summer. Slim drab green leaves complete the picture

Possums love them.
