Geocache Description:

One-room schools were commonplace throughout rural portions of Pipestone County in the late 19th and early 20th centuries

District 30 was approved on April 4, 1881. The schoolhouse was located on the SW corner of Section 20. At one time, it was known as the Stottz School. The schoolhouse had indoor chemical toilets. When the school was closed the building went to Slayton where it was remodeled into a house. When district dissolved, the students were transported into Ruthton.

For more information about all the country schools located in Pipestone County please feel free to visit the Pipestone County Museum. This is a small container just holding a log, so bring your own writing tool. A TOTT may also be needed.
