CACHE THE CAVERNS

On Sunday, June 7, 2015 the Lewis and Clark Caverns Association is hosting 'Cache the Caverns', an all-day geocaching event at Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park that highlights the less visited areas in the park.

The event is open to everyone from beginner to experts and begins at the coordinates provided (the park pavilion.)The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. but we ask that participants begin to start checking in at around 10:30 a.m. For those with little-to-no experience (or just wanting a refresher) a geocaching program will be presented at 10:00 a.m. by Lewis and Clark Caverns employee, Steven Hamilton. Extra GPS units are NOT available so please be sure to bring one or come with someone who has one.

The event is planned to be set up like a poker run in the park with the highest hand/s winning the top prize/s. There will be event souvenirs for all participants.

The event will not go into the cave but for folks who are interested in touring the caverns (or camping at the campground) before or after the event cave tour information (and campground information) and prices can be found at: http://stateparks.mt.gov/lewis-and-clark-caverns.

There will be an event social and potluck afterwards with the association providing the main dish and asking participants to bring side dishes.

There will be the opportunity to find 10 caches, but only 5 is necessary to make a poker hand. Doing more than 5 gives you a chance to make a better hand. There will be no off-roading and the difficulty of each of the caches varies. .Please check this page often to keep informed as details may change or become updated. We hope to see you there!
