The prominent mountain visible to the west and a little north of Anchorage is known as the "Sleeping Lady" but is officially named "Mount Susitna". While the "Sleeping Lady" looks like a big hill, it is actually 4,396 feet high -- higher than the highest point in 25 states -- and its base starts at sea level. But it could be considered a "hill" compared to Denali at 20,321 feet which can be visible from Anchorage on extremely clear days.
There are many stories and about the "Sleeping Lady" mountain, including both old Alaska Native stories and settler stories, and you can read some of them by clicking on "Related Web Page". A brewery near the cache is named after the mountain.
