15 years ago, on May 2 2000, Selective Availability did get shut down. Already on May 3, Dave Ulmer hid the first stash at N45°17.460' W122°24.800', later to be known as geocache. Since then the activity spread worldwide and is popular among all kinds of people. The groundspeak view of the history is to be found here.
The Luxembourg Geocaching history starts only shortly after, the first Geocache, GC44 on Luxembourgish grounds got hidden by Pierre Cao on August 16, 2000.This is the same Owner who placed the Geocache, GC40. It had to wait longer for the first finder than the original stash, only on April 9, 2001 the first log appeared. The cache got archived already in 2002 as the cache was damaged and the owner did no longer ensure maintenance.
Since then, a new cache, a Virtual named GCA329, The One and Only has been created at this place. The name refers to a unique place in Luxembourg, in fact it's the only confluence point in Luxembourg.
The 10 Years Event was still at this place and was created by baelrati
I would say this is reason enough to celebrate 15 Years Geocaching at this location. More information about the Groundspeak initiated celebrations may be found at http://www.geocaching.com/lostandfound/.
