Geocache Description:

Your looking for a small painted plastic container with some swag, a log and a pencil will be needed.

It's been a long road searching the hills for the NW Passage to Vernonia to place a power trail going there from the SE. This is the third stop, disappointed by what we encounter not far away up the road. This is where Lewis and Clark were never faced with 8 or 10" steel I-beams, pad locks, trenches and berms of earth. Those canoes and packs could be hauled around those things but Geocachers are a little more picky about packing SUV over and around this stuff. Yes, those with the big heards of horses under the hood could make it and even we could have braved the ruts and berms but for those who came after we had to turn back. This marked a spot where like Clark had to turn to another route we gave this another try.

This week Mnkjohnson provided transportation as we picked up some of the local caches as we tried to put together route. Like Clark, who would have blazed a tree we opted to plant a cache to mark our way. Meriwether would have penned that the clouds were open and the sun had fled yet we were of good spirits. The progress was slow and the way narrow but our steed had firm footing to push on.

The marker will be found on the lower base of what was a tree.

Good luck to those who come after.
