On 2nd May 2000, GPS signals were unscrambled, improving the accuracy of GPS devices by ten times. This signalled the hiding of the first geocache and gave birth to the game we all enjoy today.
Join us to celebrate this milestone for an evening of geochat and geocoin/ trackable discovery. The VanillaRivers will also be celebrating their 2000th cache find, so there's double the reason to attend. Also, as this event is being held during the weekend of 2nd/ 3rd May, you'll automatically be awarded a digital souvenir for your geocaching profile, so if you've been working all day like us Vanillarivers, or have simply been unable to get out and find any plastic... This is the perfect way to grab that souvenir!
Saturday is 'Chicken Feast' night, with an all you can eat buffet. Drinks of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic nature are available. The purchase of food and/or drink is not mandatory to log or attend this event. However if you do plan to eat, please indicate how many diners will be in your party so we can give the venue a heads up.
As this is a celebration, we'll be bringing a cake along, and there'll be a geocaching based mini-quiz too... With a draw of all entrants to win an un-activated trackable tag as a prize.
The Venue:
We're using the Castlewood Brewers Fayre, the event will begin at 18:30 and end at 21:00, or whenever the last cacher leaves.
