Unknown Confederate Soldiers
At the posted coordinates is a group of white marble grave markers, lined up in two neat rows.
Each marks the grave of an Unknown Confederate Soldier.
Local historians have suggested that these were wounded soldiers from the Battle of Shiloh
that were treated at the two Civil War hospitals in Tuscaloosa;
one at the Indian Queen Hotel, the other at the not quite complete Alabama Insane Hospital.
