Geocache Description:

Clyde Sea Lochs Trail - Whistlefield

Whistlefield – what’s in the name? Well, it’s got something to do with thirsty horses and blowing a whistle. To find out more, read the panel.

This part of the A814 was an important link between the Gareloch and Loch Long before roads and railways were built. Known as “The Duke’s Road”, this stage coach road was built by the Duke of Argyll to improve transport in the Highlands during and after the Jacobite rebellions.

This is a nice spot to have a break. There are picnic tables. Have a look and a listen around you. There are many woodland birds in these trees. How many birds can you spot and name? How many trees can you name?
