Geocache Description:

Alice Clock at Fountain Centre The Alice Clock, situated on the piazza at Fountain Centre, is the only automaton clock in Ireland. It was created to celebrate the Millennium 2000.

Please note there are restricted times to obtain this cache, it is only availble between 9am and 5pm traditionally on Mondays to Saturdays but open times of the centre do vary during the year. Please note that the centre is closed on Sundays. But if you spy the cache from outside the centre but cannot access it, feel free to claim it, some of you have travelled far and wide, so I don't mind. The 24 bells play on the hour, from 9.00am to 6.00pm. Every three hours, religious figures emerge to commemorate the birth of Christ – King David is followed by John the Baptist, Joseph and Mary, holding the infant Jesus. Every other hour characters from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland rotate around the three mosaic panels designed and executed by Berni Sutton of Coney Island, Co Down. They depict the progress of the day – morning, noon and night. Architects, Fitzpatrick and Mays of Dublin, designed the project and commissioned the clock from Otto Buer of Lübeck, Germany. The Cache Head up the central stairs / escalator to the balcony where the clock resides. Walk along the balconies edge to find the cache, be careful when retrieving and returning the cache, you wouldn't want to drop it. The cache is a Camo test tube around 12cm long, at the time of placing (25 March 2015) there is a log and pencil. This can be a muggle heavy area, so as always Cachers be discreet.
