Hamilton is a charming colonial village on the Lyell Highway. It is about a 30 minute drive from New Norfolk in the beautiful Derwent Valley.
This simple multi cache is designed so that you visit five of the Georgian cottages within the township. The ones that we have chosen are part of 'Hamilton's Historic Walk' and there is an information plaque in front of or attached to each cottage. From these plaques you can read about the history of the buildings and about some of the former occupants. You will also be able to obtain the information required to complete the coordinates needed to find the cache which is at:

The Warder's Cottage is in Tarleton Street. (No. 4 in Hamilton's Historic Walk)
The gaol was behind this cottage and contained 2 large lockups and (A) cells.

Thomas Villeneuve Jean was the Assistant Colonial Treasurer of Tasmania from 185(D) - 1865.
Close by you can view Emma, Victoria, George and Edward Cottages. They have all been restored and feature lovely cottage gardens.
