Geocache Description:

I picked up a travel bug from the Garden of Honor in South Carolina named HOMES FOR TROOPS.  It would like to visit Geocaches that are near memorials and parks dedicated to service men and women.  I am helping it along its journey.

There aren't many bushes or trees on the grounds, and I'm not sure if that's owing to the location or a deliberate part of the design.  It draws attention to the clean, white, precisely placed markers.   Maybe's that's the point.  Because it's so new, there are sites of newly interred, with still-fresh flowers marking the sad event.  The short memorial walk, at the bottom of the slope closest to the entrance and across from the main parking lot, borders a small pond surrounded by native vegetation.  The pond and tall plants draw the dragonflies that both darted in front of me at the same time they seemed to lead me.  The walk is well named.  It gives one time to collect thoughts and gaze at the green and white.

JNC, like many newer national cemeteries, has an ossuary wall and an impressive columbarium.  It's stark, but peaceful and beautiful at the same time.
