Geocache Description:

The Glenelg River is the central feature of the Lower Glenelg National Park. Along the last part of its winding 400 kilometre path to the sea the river has carved a spectacular gorge up to 50 metres deep through limestone. There are great places for fishing, canoeing, camping and picnicking along the Glenelg River. Note: National Parks will be closed on CODE RED fire danger rated days.

Restrictions apply to campfires and barbeques in Victoria. These restrictions are important to reduce the chance of a bushfire that could result in loss of life and property. They are actively enforced. Fire restrictions for campfires and barbeques vary depending on the fire risk on a particular day or time of year, and whether the activity is on public or private land.

In National and State Parks fires should only be lit in permanent, constructed fire places. In other areas, a pit at least 30cm deep can be used. The fire must not be more than 1 square metre and the fuel must be the minimum size necessary for the purpose.

The area within 3 metres of the barbecue must clear of flammable material and at least 10 litres of water available for immediate use. An adult must be there at all times when the fire is alight and the fire completely extinguished before the adult leaves.

On Total Fire Ban days, only commercially constructed gas or electricity barbeques are permitted, and only for meal preparation. Campfires and fires for warmth or personal comfort are not permitted. Solid and liquid fuel barbeques and ovens are also not permitted.

Always use water to extinguish your campfire before your leave and if in doubt, do not light a fire.

You are looking for a small plastic cache. Bring a pen. Log is waterproof paper and can still be signed with ball-point pen when wet.
