Geocache Description:

Hike along a beautiful pristine old logging road  that climbs 800 vertical feet in a distance of 1.6 miles.   Savor the awesome view of the President Channel and Waldron Island as seen from high safe cliffs.

The Turtleback Mountain Preserve is owned and managed by the San Juan Preservation Trust.  To walk the trails through this area is a pristine experience, and an assortment of viewpoints offer dramatic views of distant islands.   After climbing the 1.6 miles, you will come to a signed intersection.  Go to the right (north) walk several 100 feet over to the Waldron Island Viewpoint.  The cache is located back and away from steep cliffs.  As you pass between a double fir and pine, meander a short distance off to your left (25' to the west).  Check out the mossy rocks, but do not remove any moss from the them.  You may at first find another container which is a letterbox. Ten feet further is hidden the cache.  Tread lightly.  After you find the cache, please replace it exactly as you found it, covered with a rock, sticks and fir boughs.
