Geocache Description:

Please join us as the KT events once again cross the border into Derbyshire, visiting the small and picturesque Peak District village of Hope.

KT49 - The Rime of the Ancient Cacher

The Old Hall Hotel, Hope, S33 6RH
Tues 30 June 2015, 6pm - 10pm

These monthly KT events are open to all, not just a regular group of cachers. Everyone is made welcome, new and old, from far and wide.

Given that the sun won't set until very late, coming along to this event will give you the chance to appreciate some of the stunning scenery in the local area.

During the event, you will get the chance to go through the poem The Rime of the Ancient Cacher, which I have written especially for this KT event, based on and heavily plagurised from influenced by the Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Will you relate to the Ancient Cacher? How much of his journey will strike a chord with you?

As if this wasn't enticing enough, the first 30 people to turn up will get the chance to take part in a (hopefully fun) caching-based game. Don't worry though, it won't require anything more demanding than talking to others, and there will most likely be a caching-related prize for the winner.

The pub is reserving the restaurant section for us, which is around the left side of the bar as you walk in, at the back. Children are welcome, as are dogs, but dogs must stay in the bar area and can't go into the restaurant area. There are tables in the bar area though, and they're not separated by much.

If you're travelling by public transport, there is a semi-regular service to Hope Railway Station, which is just over half a mile from the pub. Please check the return journey times though, as the last train is quite early. For those coming by car, there should be plenty of parking in the pub car park, but there are lots of other bits of parking available around the village as well.

Please do log your attendance in good time, and if you could note in your log how many you expect to be in your group and if you are likely to be eating, that would be a great help when I let the pub know how many to expect. Additionally, as we will be a big group, the pub have asked that people 'pre-order' if you want food. They have provided a group menu from which to choose. Please let me know in your attendance log what you would like to eat, and I will pass the orders to the pub beforehand.
