Letterboxing at HBSP Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

Danvers Duo: After a great run on this cache and it's neighbor "Trail Less Traveled", we have to archive them both due to park regulations. It seems that the trees in this area (specifically the primitive camp ground area) are in poor health, and the State Park personnel have deemed the area unsafe, and have blocked access to the trail. Sorry for any inconvenience, but the Park officials have requested that we archive this immediately, so PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS ONE ANY MORE, THERE IS NO CONTAINER AT THIS SITE.

Geocache Description:

This park is one of the "jewels" of the SC State Park system. It encompasses  2500 acres of the best preserved beach on the Grand Strand. A freshwater lagoon, saltmarsh, maritime forest and 3 miles of beach are outstanding examples of the state's natural coastal environment. Atalaya, The National Landmark home of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington is also  on site and open year round tours.

The cache container is an ammo can attached to a tree. There is only a partial trail to this one, so it will require a fair amount of bushwacking. Please replace and re-cover as found.

This is one of four caches that have been placed here in the park, each with a different icon (Multi, Puzzle,Letterbox, and traditional). That will give those who have to pay the $8./person entrance fee (SC res. over 65 is $5./person) an opportunity to gather 6 different individual icons, as there is already a Virtual and an Earth Cache in the park. We hope you will enjoy this one.

We hope you will enjoy this one.  Annual park passes  for each car are available to purchase at the rate of $99.00 for everyone under age 65, whether a resident or not but if you are a resident of SC and over 65, it is only $49.50. The pass will allow entry to all of the occupants of the vehicle so if you visit the SC state parks very often, it could save you a lot of money.

This cache is placed on the same trail as our "Trail less Traveled Cache" (GC5A18T).  The trail really is less traveled and  some bushwacking is required. This trail brings you to a part of the park that is not visited as frequently as other parts of the part. We love the wilderness and the beauty of this part of the park.  The trail also brings you to an area where you have a great view of the surrounding marshlands and their wildlife (birds) . The cache container is now an ammo can attached to a tree.

Congratulations to Skyye 53 for the FTF
