Oak Ridge's North Ridge Greenway Trail is a true urban wilderness. At no time are you more than a 1/4 mile from roads and houses, either up on top of the ridge, or down near Oliver Springs Highway. Yet despite the close proximity to residences, the trail has a wilderness feel, disappearing into tiny gullies, crossing trickling streams, winding around small rocky bluffs. This multi cache will take you along the entire length of the trail, starting at the north-east end at the Endicott Lane trail-head and ending near the West Outer Drive Trail-head. The entire hike/run is about 8 miles with a cumulative elevation gain of 1850 ft. I set it up as a trail run to be done in one continuous push, but it would be just as nice if broken up into small segments. There are many access points to this trail so the entire route can be broken up into small manageable sections to suit your needs or desires. There is no rush to complete the whole multi cache in one day. Take your time, enjoy the trail and experience the wild side of Oak Ridge.
The final is a large container, but all stages leading up to it are soda preforms painted camouflage and tied off with spider-line. There are small hints at each stage intended to help you locate the next stage. If any of the stages have problems, feel free to contact me. POWER UP!!
