Welcome to Lake Houston Wilderness Park! We have placed 20 caches along the Logging Loop Trail consisting of Traditional, Multi, Letterbox and Puzzle caches. The containers are various sizes of pill bottles and tubes tethered in the woods and, for the most part, are just inside the tree line. Please BYOP and also an inkpad for the Letterbox caches.
The trail is normally an easy walk or bicycle ride. However, after several days of rain there can be standing water in some areas. For your convenience there are several park benches along the route for a quick break or a nap if you so desire.
We took waypoint averages using both of our GPSrs followed by arguing discussing which GPSr was the most accurate. So as a result what you have is the best consensus we could arrive at for coordinates (without bloodshed).
This is a wilderness area so you may encounter one of the usual hazards such as venomous snakes, ticks, mosquitoes, feral hogs, poisonous plants, fire-ants or even the dreaded Gray Squirrel. For bird watchers, you may catch a glimpse of the rare “Double Breasted Seersucker.”
Park hours: Sunday – Thursday 7AM – 6PM, Friday and Saturday 7AM – 8PM. There is a $3.00 admission fee for visitors ages 13-64. For more information please visit the LHWP website.
