Geocache Description:

Copper mining started in this valley in the early 1700s and continued until1929, shown is the remains of a mining industry for metal ore. around here can also be found a cage with a pulley on top. This used to be suspended from the rope that formed the cableway for transporting ore down from the mines. When filled with rocks the weight of the cage would then tension the rope.

The walk starts at Nantmor carpark (£4 for all day parking), it takes approx 4.5hrs to complete the walk so be sure to use the free toilets on the carpark before venturing off.go through the gate and follow the sign for Cwm Bychan, you will shortly pass under the Welsh Highland Railway, this bridge acts as the entrance to the small ore dressing plant, once through the railway bridge.you will find several picnic benches scattered about its a lovely place to stop for lunch, I have hidden a plastic clip tub inside a cameo bag, inside the tub is a few free gifts please exchange gifts and sign my logbook  before returning it back - you will need a pen,

congratulations to keithnipper49 for being FTF :) Placed with Kind Permission of the National Trust
