Geocache Description:

Shellow Bowells is a tiny hamlet west of Roxwell.

The church is no longer consecrated and became a private residence in 1971.

Shellow Bowells

The church was rebuilt in brick in 1754. The bell, thought to be an early 17th century creation, was retained but the church was deconsecrated in 1971.

The village was a civil parish in its own right but since 1946, it has been part Willingale parish.

Bill Bryson noted the village in his book Notes From A Small Island, noting that the name of the village has one of those typically strange and/or mildly amusing British place names.
