Placing some caches in the Vista del Lago Visitors Center area....a quick on/off freeway P&G....northbound and southbound....you're looking for a cammo'd plastic container in the dirt parking lot.
Pyramid Lake is the jewel of this stop. You'll find camping, swimming & boating, fishing, picnic areas, and restrooms....you can also make arrangements for school and group tours. The Vista del Lago Visitors Center is open daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Both the center and the lake are facilities of the California State Water Project. This water travels about 444 miles from Lake Oroville in Northern California to Pyramid Lake. A number of power plants work to provide water and electricity to urban and agricultural areas in Northern California and Southern California. Twenty-nine SWP contracting agencies are repaying the cost, plus interest, of financing, building, operating, and maintaining the SWP....the nation's largest state-built water development and distribution system.
