Geocache Description:

The view on the hill inspired yet another cache.

If you look up you will see the large cross of the church up the hill. This symbol has been used in history for many different purposes and many different cultures. The image of a cross can be seen on tattoos to petroglphs. The English language has been creative in expressing thoughts from Star Crossed Lovers to Hot Crossed Buns. There are whimsical, spiritual, emotional and technical uses for this word. The actual nailing someone to a cross was used by the Romans and others as a means of crucifixion to punish, humiliate and kill individuals they deemed guilty of criminal activity. This type of punishment is still used in some parts of the world according to Internet sources. The crucifixion of Christ on a wooden cross is central to the Christian faith and symbolic of His sacrificial death. The cross you see at GZ is many times larger, made of metal, has a cache close by and also happens to be a cell tower!

Here are a few uses of the word cross:

Crossed fingers, to be cross with someone, cross my heart, to cross someone, cross to bear, cross the bridge, crossing the line, cross hairs, transatlantic crossing, crossroads, cross purposes, cross examine, cross section, cross bred, cross linked, cross training, cross cultural, cross county, and to nail someone to the cross.
