It's Alive!!! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TheLePews: Check GZ today and both the container and stump where it was hiding are gone and appear to have fallen victim to construction activity at that location. There was no suitable location nearby for a replacement cache so we decided to archive this cache.

About this cache:
No, you won’t find a mad scientist working on Frankenstein at this location, but there is science at work near here.  This cache is located on the Lotus Trail which circles the Lotus Pond.  This pond has been dead for decades.  Acid mine drainage had made the acidity in the pond equal to that of vinegar and unable to support any aquatic life.  The installation of an underground limestone filter has neutralized the acidity and the pond now supports both plant and animal life including several species of fish.  This pond was once dead, but through science now…It’s Alive!

Please use the established trails to find this cache. The container is within 5 feet of the trail, no bushwhacking required.

This cache is also one stage of the WOODLANDS TOUR multicache (GC5QAED). Partial coordinates for the Woodlands Tour are posted on the inside of the cache container lid.
