Geocache Description:

Tallmadge locals and visitors alike will enjoy this view of some local history -- the Root Dam at Sand Creek in Tallmadge Township.

This geocache will provide a view of the Root Dam on Sand Creek in Tallmadge Township, operational from circa 1860 until its failure on May 21, 1989.  Pictures of the failure and views of the dam since then can be viewed from a DEQ watershed study at https://www.michigan.gov/documents/deq/lwm-nps-sand_202124_7.pdf.
